The library of the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages was founded in 1948, when the Tashkent State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages was established.
According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 12, 1992 "On the establishment of the State University of World Languages of Uzbekistan" No. PF-401, the Republican Pedagogical Institute of Russian Language and Literature was established in 1963 and the Tashkent State The State University of World Languages of Uzbekistan was established on the basis of the Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages. The libraries in them were also united, and the fund was transferred to the account of the university.
On June 20, 2006, after the announcement of the decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PQ-381 "On the organization of providing the population of the Republic with an information-library", from 2007 the university library has an information-library. It was called a resource center.
In this decision, the tasks of reorganizing librarianship in our country, regulating and further developing the library network, and establishing a completely new modern system of providing library services to the population are defined. This decision created a legal basis for the transformation of traditional libraries into "Library Information Center" (ICL) and "Information Resource Centers" (IRC).
In the period of intense renewal, the library network is undergoing the most profound technological changes. It is impossible to imagine the expansion of the types of information-library services to ensure that a large number of readers, especially students, can freely use the world of information without information and improvement of the education system. The introduction of information and communication technologies into library activities leads to the creation of educational literature in electronic form, the rapid development of mutual information exchange and the serious development of educational efficiency.
It made it possible to collect and process data to create a database, ensure connection to the network of electronic libraries of other information-library institutions, quickly search for documents and make them widely available. The Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Information and Library Activities" and the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 20, 2011 "Measures to strengthen the material and technical base of higher education institutions and fundamentally improve the quality of training of highly qualified specialists" on measures" No. PQ-1533, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 23, 2013 No. PQ 1971 "On measures to improve the activities of the State University of World Languages of Uzbekistan" In order to fulfill the tasks defined in the decision, the university is operating a 3-story building with a basement for the ARM, an electronic library with subscriptions and 3 classrooms for the faculties of Roman-Germanic and Russian philology located on Zakovat 4 Street.
There are 36 staff units in the university information-resource center, 5 of which are: scientific methodological information-information, integration, cataloging and systematization of information-library resources, service with information-library resources, electronic information resources, foreign there are departments for working with information-library resources. There are 9 study halls in the information resource center, 4 of which are student accommodation study halls serving readers.
