"Green Future" Marathon

The "Green Future" nationwide marathon took place in Nukus as part of the "Green Space" national project, with the participation of all higher and vocational educational institutions.

During the opening ceremony of the marathon, officials from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by Minister Kông‘irotboy Sharipov, the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Amanbay Orinbayev, regional managers, and university leaders, including the rector of the Uzbekistan State University of Transport Ilkhomjon Tuxtasinov, took part. Additionally, about 1,500 volunteer students participated in the event, contributing to the cause.


As part of the marathon, nearly 100,000 saplings were planted on an 8-hectare area at the "Intellectuals' Garden" in Nukus, as well as on designated plots of land in all 14 regions of the country, assigned to higher and vocational educational institutions.

For reference, the goal for Uzbekistan is to plant 200 million trees and bushes annually, aiming to increase the greenery coverage to 30% by 2030. In recent years, the current greenery coverage has reached 12%.

Before the program held under the "Ma’rifat Ulashib" project, a tree planting ceremony took place as part of the "Green Space" project.

Famous writers Erkin Azam, Olimjon Davlatov, and Khurshid Abdurashid, the university rector Ilkhomjon Tuxtasinov, representatives of the administration, and students jointly planted new saplings on the university campus.

As part of the "Green Space" nationwide project, the "Intellectuals' Garden" has been established.

With the initiative of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovations, the official launch of the "Intellectuals' Garden" marathon was held at the territory of Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute as part of the "Green Space" national project.

The ceremonial event was attended by Akmal Savurboyev, Deputy Governor of Jizzakh region, Qu'ng'irotboy Sharipov, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovations, heads of higher education institutions, including Ilkhomjon Tuxtasinov, Rector of Uzbekistan State University of World Languages, as well as nearly 2,000 volunteer students.

 

 

Additionally, higher education institutions from 14 regions of the country joined the event online to support this charitable initiative.

In the spring season, a total of 648,000 saplings are planned to be planted in higher education institutions!

On March 15, over 30,000 saplings were planted across the country, creating new green spaces in the territories of higher education institutions. In the 1.5-hectare area of Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute, 1,700 saplings were planted.
