60230100 – Philology and Language Teaching (Foreign languages)
The Philology and Language Teaching programme prepares language specialists capable of working in pedagogy, translation, linguistics and research. The programme is offered in ten language tracks: English, German, French, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Turkish and Russian.
You will study the theory, culture and history of your primary language, developing an in-depth understanding of how the target language works and how to apply this knowledge in professional practice. The programme is designed to bring graduates to C1 level (CEFR) in their primary language. All languages are taught by experienced instructors trained in a wide range of pedagogical methodologies.
The programme lasts four years and comprises 240 ECTS-comparable credits (7,200 academic hours), including lectures, seminars, practical classes, internships and a final thesis. From the second year, every student studies an additional foreign language, opening career opportunities in a second language as well. Students interested in studying part of their degree abroad can take part in joint educational programmes or student exchange schemes.
Facilities include the faculty and main university libraries, a phonetics laboratory, the EduSmart video-lesson studio, and fully equipped lecture halls and study rooms.
Admission requirements
Admission is competitive and based on the state examination procedure of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Applicants must hold a certificate of complete general secondary or specialised secondary education.

Career prospects
Graduates receive the qualification of Bachelor in Philology and Language Teaching, which qualifies them for:
- teaching positions in educational institutions at all levels — schools, academic lyceums, colleges and language centres;
- translation and intercultural communication;
- organisational and managerial roles;
- research and scientific activities;
- consulting services;
- work as correspondents and in publishing and editorial roles.
Intended learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates are able to:
- communicate fluently and accurately in the primary foreign language at C1 level (CEFR) in academic and professional contexts;
- apply systematic knowledge of phonetics, morphology, syntax, lexicology and stylistics to the analysis and use of the target language;
- plan, deliver and evaluate learner-centred language lessons using modern pedagogical approaches and digital technologies;
- assess learners’ progress using transparent, criteria-based methods and provide constructive feedback;
- translate general, specialised and literary texts between the target language and Uzbek/Russian with accuracy and appropriate stylistic adaptation;
- design and conduct empirical linguistic or pedagogical research, critically evaluate academic sources and present evidence-based conclusions;
- communicate effectively across cultures, drawing on knowledge of the history, culture and society of the target-language countries;
- use a second foreign language for professional communication;
- work responsibly, both independently and in teams, and continue their professional development autonomously.
