The Uzbekistan State World Languages University ​​has a 75-year history. It received the status of a university in 1992 as a result of the merger of the Tashkent State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages ​​(1949) and the Republican Institute of Russian Language and Literature (1963).

Currently, the Uzbekistan State World Languages University ​​has 10 faculties, and an academic lyceum with in-depth study of foreign languages ​​operates under the university. In addition, UzSWLU is defined as one of the basic higher education institutions for teaching foreign languages, as a result of which 100 comprehensive schools are attached to it to provide regular educational and methodological support.

The number of students is 22,492 people; 1023 teachers teach them subjects in their areas.

The university offers 26 bachelor's degree programs and 19 master's degree programs.

17 foreign languages ​​​​are studied at the university as the main and second languages. Including English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Malay, Indonesian, Hindi, Turkish, Dutch. In the future, it is planned to further increase the number of foreign languages ​​studied, including Finnish, Swedish, Portuguese, Polish and Hebrew.

the Uzbekistan State World Languages University ​​maintains close cooperation 

relations with more than 130 leading higher education institutions in the world, as well as the British Council, DAAD, the French Alliance, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOIKA), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JAYKA), the Turkish International Cooperation Agency (TIKA), embassies and official representative offices of foreign countries in Uzbekistan.

Currently, joint educational programs are being implemented with the Digital University of Japan, Moscow State Linguistic and Adyghe State Universities of Russia. Graduates of this program have the opportunity to receive diplomas from two prestigious universities.

More than 30 foreign specialists and professors undergo practical training at our university. The number of international students is 75. Summer school programs and cultural exchange programs are also offered to international students and teachers.
