The main purpose and main tasks of the Department:

 The Department of Applied Sciences of English №2 is a structural unit of the second Faculty of English language. This department was established on the basis of the decision of the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Uzbek State University of World Languages of July 7, 2021 and the statement of the University Council approved by the decision of the meeting of the University Council No. 10 of May 27, 2021. The tasks of the department are to carry out educational, educational, methodological, scientific-methodological, scientific-methodological, research and teacher-apprentice work on the subjects ”integration of language skills”, ”practice of Reading and writing” and ”practice of language aspects” for students of the first stage of foreign language and literature (English language) education, as well as training, skill development and retraining of scientific and scientific pedagogical personnel.

The activities of the department are carried out in accordance with the perspective and current (annual) plans covering educational, scientific-methodological, research, spiritual moral and educational and organizational and methodological work. The implementation of these plans and other tasks related to the activities of the department will be discussed at meetings held under the chairmanship of the head of the Department. Other departments and employees of UzSWLU can be invited to the meetings of the Department. 

The main areas of activity of the department include:

* Training highly qualified competitive personnel who meet high moral and moral requirements at the level of developed democratic states;

• Regularly conduct and improve the comparative analysis of state educational standards, curricula and programs in the directions and specialties of the department with educational programs of developed foreign countries; develop educational programs in the disciplines of the Department and submit them for approval in the prescribed manner, as well as prepare conclusions to educational programs prepared by related departments;

• Preparation of textbooks, educational, methodological and visual manuals, conducting a discussion of re-published textbooks, manuals and educational and methodological manuals at the required level, ensuring the quality of education; competency practice of students, course projects (works), graduate qualification work, directing master's dissertations, as well as independent work and research work;

* Implementation of control of student knowledge on the basis of a credit-module system, conducting activities on the organization of non-audience work of students;

• Selection and education of talented students, preparation for participation in the Olympics and competitions, including the competition of educational foundations, taking measures to improve the forms and methods of organizing independent education of students;  Organization of scientific and creative activities of students on a systematic basis, involvement of gifted students in research, teaching them to perform research work individually and collectively, creating the necessary organizational, methodological and material and technical conditions for the realization of their scientific and creative activities;

• To carry out research work according to the approved plan, Discuss completed research work, recommend for publication and introduce their results into production, ensure effective integration of Education, Science and production;

  Organization of work aimed at reviewing Educational, Scientific methodological, scientific-research, spiritual-educational and organizational-methodological work of teachers of the department in personal work plans, studying the activities of experienced teachers, generalizing and popularizing their advanced experience;

         Introduction of modern pedagogical and Information Communication Technologies, assistance in acquiring pedagogical skills and skills for young teachers who have begun to engage in pedagogical activity, creation of an information base, establishing the effective use of modern educational and technical means, methods of individual training and independent education in training, organizing training in special educational auditoriums equipped with modern computer techniques, developing;

  Participation from the composition of expert groups on the preparation of scientific and pedagogical personnel, discussion of candidate and doctoral dissertations in scientific seminars in specialties corresponding to the specialty of the department or related specialties, determination of compliance of educational documents with the standard requirements;

         In order to attract extra-budgetary funds, as well as provide scientific technical assistance, establish contact with production enterprises and Bashkir Khojaly residents;

         Organization of regular contacts with graduates of UzSWLU as well as those who are an intern-researcher scout and senior researcher-researcher at this department, monitoring of graduates;

         Holding events aimed at improving the qualifications of specialists in the specialty of the Department, development of an educational service system;

     Development of educational cooperation with foreign educational institutions;

 • Organization of circles on various topics, directions and specializations, types of professions, taking into account the interests of students, implementation of activities aimed at keeping students busy their free time from classes with productive and useful work; continuous control of the University Information and Resource Center with new educational, scientific and technical and periodic literature on educational areas and specialties of the Department.

Subjects taught at the Department:

In the 1st year: “Integration of Language Skills”, “Reading and Writing Practice” and “Language Aspects Practice” subjects

In 3rd year: “Theoretical phonetics”

Scientific research work of the department: all teachers of the department were involved in conducting scientific research, despite the fact that the English language was a short time since the establishment of the Department of Applied Sciences 2. In 2024, the plan is expected to have 2 teachers protecting PhD scientific work. In the coming years, protection plans will also be developed; In addition, teachers participate in various scientific seminar trainings in order to increase their scientific potential.

Department achievements:

- teacher of the Department Yu.Normatova completed a Teacher training course at the Stafford house school centre in the UK in June 2023 and was certified CELTA pass in Level 5 and performed at the Uzbek culture festival to be established in London in June.
