SECOND FACULTY OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Faculty History:
In accordance with the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PQ-1971 dated May 23, 2013, regarding the measures to improve the activities of the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages, the Third English Faculty was established within the university. On August 28, 2019, by the decision of the University Council, it was renamed as the Second English Faculty.

Currently, the faculty trains students in two educational programs: "Foreign Language and Literature (English)" and "Pre-school and Primary Education with Foreign Language (English)." The total number of students is 2,460, with 490 students in the first year, 669 students in the second year, 515 students in the third year, and 786 students in the fourth year.

The Second English Faculty consists of six departments, which include four specialized departments and two non-specialized ones:

  • Department of Practical English Language #2

  • Department of Integrated English Language Course #2

  • Department of Theoretical Aspects of English #2

  • Department of Methods of Teaching English #2

  • Department of Uzbek Language and Literature

  • Department of Physical Culture and Sports

Currently, the faculty employs 137 full-time professors and teachers who provide education and training. Of these, 6 are professors with a Doctor of Sciences degree (DSc), and 21 are associate professors with a PhD. The scientific potential of the faculty is 19.7%.

The Second English Faculty has established international cooperation with the following universities:

  • USA: Indiana University

  • Japan: Dokkyo University, Osaka University

  • China: Beijing Foreign Studies University

  • Turkey: Ankara University, Istanbul University, Gazi University, Karabük University

  • Russia: Russian State University for the Humanities, Moscow State Linguistic University

  • Kazakhstan: Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, South Kazakhstan University named after Mukhtar Auezov

  • Turkmenistan: Turkmenistan National Institute of Foreign Languages

Under the guidance of experienced professors, the faculty excels in working with talented students. These students are selected to participate in various academic olympiads, prestigious competitions, and receive nominations for state scholarships each year. For the 2024-2025 academic year, one student received the Presidential Scholarship, one received the Islam Karimov State Scholarship, four received the Navoi State Scholarship, one received the Alexander Faynberg State Scholarship, and two received the Rector’s Scholarship.

Upon completion of the bachelor’s program, graduates will possess the following professional qualifications:

Foreign Language and Literature (English) Bachelor's Program:
Graduates are qualified to work in:

  • General education institutions, vocational and specialized educational establishments, and related organizations within the academic research institutes, public administration bodies, mass media, and educational systems.

  • As educators in foreign language and literature subjects in schools, academic lyceums, and vocational colleges.

  • As methodologists and specialists in ministries and sectorial institutions in relevant educational programs.

  • As workers in archives, resource centers, publishing houses, mass media, non-governmental organizations, and other organizations.

  • In local self-governance bodies and centers of spirituality and enlightenment.
