The department has 20 professors and teachers. 1 of them is a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and 1 is a Doctor of Science (DSc). The remaining 18 are professors and teachers without academic degrees
The main purpose of the department is to train specialists who meet modern requirements and relevant international standards, within the framework of ensuring the priority tasks of the law "On Education" and the "National Training Program".
The main tasks of the department are as follows:
- conducting lectures, practical and other types of classes at a high theoretical, scientific, methodological and professional level, provided for by curricula drawn up in accordance with state educational standards of higher education;
- guidance of students' independent work on final qualification papers and master's theses;
- fair assessment of students' knowledge based on a rating system;
- creating conditions for linking theoretical knowledge and skills of students with practice;
- development and submission for approval in accordance with the established procedure of curricula in the disciplines of the department, as well as discussion of curricula prepared by related departments;
- preparation of textbooks, educational, methodical and visual aids and discussion of other educational, educational and methodical literature to be published;
- participation in the preparation of the necessary educational and methodological literature on the orders of non-governmental educational institutions;
- working with gifted students, preparing them for various competitions, improving the forms and methods of conducting scientific research and self-study;
- creation of conditions for conducting research work for the teaching staff of the department;
- discussion and recommendation
Scientific direction of the Department:
At the Department of English language teaching methodology, planned research works are carried out in the following priority areas:
Methods of teaching English
Educational direction taught at the department: 5111400-foreign language and literature (English).
The following subjects are taught at the department: (day and evening training)
1. Methods of teaching languages and educational technologies
2. Theory and practice of translation
3. Comparative typology
4. The practice of reading and writing (Research Writing)
5. Integrated course of teaching Foreign language
Research work:
Members of the department publish more than 500 scientific articles and theses in international and Republican scientific journals and collections of scientific and practical conferences.
In the 2020-2023 academic year, three teachers received professional training at the University of Portsmouth and Norwich Nile Training Center in the UK in May and July.
The scientific potential of the department is 11%, a total of 27 full-time and 3 part-time teachers have international and national (S1) certificates (100%).
The educational process is conducted on the basis of qualification requirements and educational programs published in Uzbekistan and abroad. and about 20 methodological manuals have been published.
Every year, the department holds a scientific-practical conference of professors, teachers and students on the topic of current issues of modern linguistic research. The materials of the conference will be published in the collections "Current Issues of Modern Linguistic Research", "Issues of Formation of Intercultural Communication in Teaching Foreign Languages". Also, professors and teachers publish theses, scientific articles, brochures, textbooks and training manuals.
Cooperation agreements with various local and international educational institutions have been signed at the Department of Theoretical Aspects of English 2. Memorandums of cooperation were signed in various directions with Acharya International University of India, MIA Academy, and general education school No. 227 in Yashnabad district of Tashkent city.
Over the past years, a joint cooperation agreement was signed in cooperation with the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Linguistics of the Russian Federation, and now it is planned to renew this memorandum.
Akhmedov Oybek Saporbaevich Educational and methodological manuals published in 2010-2020 "Linguistic analysis and problems of translation of tax and customs terms in English and Uzbek" (monograph), "English for taxes and taxation", "English for economists", "English-Uzbek dictionary of terms related to banking, finance and tax ", ”English in economics, business and taxation", "English in architecture and civil engineering", "English for geologists".
Achievements of the Department:
Fatimakhon Saidbakhramovna Azizova, successfully defended her dissertation on the topic "Linguistic and cultural features of teaching English phraseological units to students of higher educational institutions" in 2019, specialty 13.00.02 – theory and methodology of education and upbringing (English), and in August of this year she received a PhD in doctor of philosophy on pedagogical sciences. In addition, she is a member of the editorial boards of the journals of the Russian Federation "Economics and Society" and "The American Journal of Social Science and Education Innovations".
Co-author of the patent "English-Uzbek dictionary of terms related to banking, finance and taxation" No. DSU 13088 of the Intellectual Property Agency under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Professor of the Department Akhmedov Oybek Saporbaevich successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic “Linguistic analysis and problems of translation of tax and customs terms in English and Uzbek” in 2016, having received the degree of Doctor of Philology (DSc).
Since 2017, he has been working as a professor at the Department of English language teaching methodology No. 2. Under the guidance of the scientist, to date, researchers have successfully defended their dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the philological field.
He is also a member of scientific councils in our republic, where doctoral dissertations are defended. He is also a member of the editorial board of the American Journal of Linguistics and the American Journal of Pedagogical and Educational Research USA.
The National Corpus of the Uzbek language of the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan is the author of a patent for a “Trilingual electronic dictionary of pharmaceutical terms”.
Senior lecturer of the Department Inamova Gullola Ahmad kizi, June 2022 on the topic: “Methods of developing listening skills and understanding by students in English lessons using audiovisual means” 13.00.02 – Successfully defended his dissertation on the specialty Theory and methodology of teaching and upbringing (English), and in August of this year was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Pedagogical Sciences (PhD), currently conducts scientific work on the topic “Improving the oral speech skills of students in English lessons with the help of an automated phonetic laboratory”.
Senior lecturer of the department Gilyazetdinov Eldar Zamirovich, topic of scientific work: "The concept of intercultural English language teaching for future translators", specialty 13.00.02 – theory and methodology of teaching and upbringing (English).
Senior lecturer of the Department Ramazonova Zebuniso Yashinovna 3rd stage as an independent researcher in the specialty 10.00.06 – comparative literature, comparative linguistics and translation studies “Linguoculturological aspect of anthroponyms in the language system and literary text (on the example of materials of English and Uzbek languages)”.
Senior lecturer of the department Normominova Hulkar Abduvasievna, topic of scientific work: “Methods of formation of writing skills in English for A2 level students", specialty 13.00.02 – theory and methodology of teaching and upbringing (English).
Senior lecturer of the Department Ashurova Feruza Lutpullayevna 2nd stage as an independent researcher in the specialty 10.00.06-comparative literature, comparative linguistics and translation studies on the topic “Linguistic and cultural aspects of aphorisms in various systematic languages (using the example of materials of English Uzbek and Russian languages)” conducts research work.
