Department of English Language Teaching Methodology №1

Historical background of the department: Until 2017, the department functioned under the name Department of Phonetics and Phonology. From 2017 to the present day, it continues its activities under the name Department of Methods of Teaching English No. 1. Currently, the department operates in the status of a specialized department. At the moment, more than 500 students are studying in the 4th year.

Structure of the department: currently there are 33 professors working at the department, of which: 26 full-time, 9 part-time. Scientific potential of the department. The scientific potential of the department is 37.5%. According to the scientific direction of the department, scientific research was carried out in the following specialties: Theory and methods of education and training (13.00.02.): Muradkasimova Kamola Shukhratovna (DSc), Rashidova Feruza Musaevna (DSc), Mukhtarov Mukhiddin Mansurovich (PhD), Khan Svetlana Sergeevna (PhD), Ochilova Vazirakhan Rustamovna (PhD), Ismatova Shakhnoza Mirakhmatovna (PhD). Comparative literature, translation studies and contrastive linguistics (10.00.06): Khalifa Daribayevna Paluanova (DSc), Kuldashev Akram Makhmudovich (DSc), Tukhliyeva Gavxar Nurislamovna (DSc), Kuldasheva Shaxnoza Akramovna (PhD), Minniqulov Islom O’rol o’g’li (PhD).

Activities of the department. The regulatory framework for the activities of the department is determined by the decrees and orders of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, decrees and orders of the Cabinet of Ministers, decrees and orders of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, orders of the rector and orders of the dean. The department mainly works in educational, research and spiritual areas. Teachers of the department carry out the teaching load on the basis of approved individual work plans. Research work of the department is determined by textbooks, teaching aids, teaching aids, monographs, scientific articles, theses published by teachers of the department. The scientific activities of the department are determined by holding scientific seminars, monitoring doctoral students assigned to the department, supporting doctoral students, independent researchers, and involving the department’s teachers in research and other activities. Teachers of the department conduct group classes with 4th year students and conduct spiritual and educational work with them based on the schedule.

Topics related to the department: The department provides training to 4th year students in the direction of Foreign Language and Literature (English). The department conducts classes in the following general education and specialized disciplines: integrated course in teaching foreign languages, comparative typology, theory and practice of translation, language teaching methods and educational technologies, linguopragmatics and discourse analysis.
