At Uzbekistan State World Languages University, instruction is delivered primarily in Uzbek and Russian. Prospective students have the right to choose the language of instruction depending on the study programme. In line with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 169 (dated August 4, 2008), titled “On the Admission of Foreign Students to Educational Institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Improvement of the Education System”, foreign applicants who do not possess proficiency in either Uzbek or Russian are required to attend preparatory language courses. These courses are designed to ensure that all incoming students are adequately prepared to follow instruction in the language of their chosen study programme.
The university’s Republican Language Teaching Center, established in 1991, offers intensive preparatory language programmes of varying durations—3, 5, or 10 months—based on students’ existing proficiency levels. The objective of these courses is to equip students with a minimum B1-level proficiency in either Uzbek or Russian, which is the required threshold for enrollment in undergraduate programmes.
Students who complete these courses successfully are awarded a certificate confirming their language competence. Foreign applicants who have acquired Uzbek or Russian language proficiency outside Uzbekistan are required to pass a language proficiency test. Upon successful completion, they are also awarded a certificate that qualifies them for direct admission.
