A Meeting Was Held at UzSWLU with a Professor from the University of Cádiz (Spain)
On June 22, a meeting was held at the Uzbek State World Languages University with Professor Francisco Javier de Cos Ruiz from one of Spain’s leading higher education institutions — the University of Cádiz, as well as the Director of the Secretariat for Social, Cultural, and International Relations of the Jerez Campus.
The meeting was attended by Rector Ilkhomjon Tuxtasinov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation A. Nasirov, Head of the International Cooperation Department Kh. Yo‘ldashev, Head of the Registrar’s Office A. Khalillaev, Dean of the Faculty of Romano-Germanic Philology Kh. Khakimov, and Head of the Department of Spanish Language I. Turamuratova.

At the beginning of the meeting, the guest was informed about the university’s achievements in recent years, including its position in international rankings, priority areas of educational and scientific activity, and opportunities for teaching the Spanish language.
During the meeting, the parties discussed expanding cooperation between UzSWLU and the University of Cádiz to a new level. In particular, they considered expanding student and faculty exchange programs, inviting professors from the University of Cádiz to teach and deliver lectures at UzSWLU, developing joint projects within the Erasmus+ program, and launching joint educational programs.
They also discussed improving the qualification of UzSWLU faculty members, providing modern Spanish language learning materials, developing cooperation in training translators and simultaneous interpreters, and organizing scientific research, international conferences, and joint academic publications.
The parties also reviewed plans to activate the Spain–Uzbekistan Center operating at the University of Cádiz, promote the Uzbek language and culture, and organize specialist exchanges in this field.

For reference, Francisco Javier de Cos Ruiz is a professor at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Cádiz specializing in Spanish language studies. His research areas include general and applied linguistics, the history of the Spanish language, methodology of teaching Spanish as a foreign language, dialectology, and innovative pedagogical technologies in higher education. He is the author of numerous scientific articles and monographs and actively contributes to the development of international and cultural cooperation at the university.
At the end of the meeting, the parties reached an agreement to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation and consistently implement practical projects.
