A Meeting with a Grandmaster Held at UzSWLU
On the occasion of Youth Day, Uzbekistan State World Languages University hosted the event “Meeting with a Grandmaster” and held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Cooperation between Uzbekistan State World Languages University and the SkyChess Chess Academy.
The event brought together the university administration, faculty members, tutors, staff, more than 50 students, and over 100 young people from mahallas of Uchtepa District.
The event was officially opened by the Rector of Uzbekistan State World Languages University, Ilxomjon Tuxtasinov. In his address, he highlighted the ongoing efforts in the country to support the intellectual development of young people, promote chess, and encourage talented youth. He emphasized that chess is an important intellectual sport that fosters strategic thinking, analytical skills, patience, and sound decision-making abilities.
The guest of honor was renowned Uzbek chess player and international grandmaster Nafisa Mo‘minova, who held an open dialogue with the participants. She spoke about her chess career, participation in international tournaments, achievements, and the path she followed toward success. She also provided detailed answers to questions raised by students, tutors, and young faculty members.
Following the discussion, Rector Ilkhomjon Tukhtasinov and the Director of SkyChess Chess Academy made a symbolic first move on the chessboard, officially launching the competitions.
