Construction Progress of the New Student Dormitory Reviewed

Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Qo‘ng‘irotboy Sharipov, Uchtepa District Mayor Bunyod Mamadjanov, and Rector of Uzbekistan State University of World Languages Ilkhomjon Tuxtasinov reviewed the progress of construction work at the new student dormitory being built for the university.

During the visit, Rector Ilkhomjon Tuxtasinov, together with the university administration and responsible staff, provided the Minister and the district mayor with detailed information on the ongoing works at the new student dormitory, the current status of the facility, the progress of construction, and preparations for commissioning the building.

 

 

New 1,100-Bed Student Dormitory

The project is one of the important infrastructure projects of Uzbekistan State University of World Languages aimed at expanding opportunities for providing students with modern living conditions.

The new student dormitory is being constructed under a public-private partnership. Construction of the nine-storey facility with a capacity of 1,100 students began on 18 March 2025.

The total project cost amounts to UZS 80.8 billion. Of this amount, UZS 45.8 billion is financed by the private project initiator, while UZS 35 billion is allocated from the state budget.

As part of the construction process, systematic work is being carried out to ensure that the facility complies with the approved design requirements, maintain the quality of construction and finishing works, install engineering and utility networks, and prepare the building for commissioning.

 

 

All Areas of Construction Reviewed

During the visit, the Minister, district mayor, and Rector toured the construction site together and inspected both the interior and exterior areas of the facility.

In particular, they reviewed the structural elements of the building, interior finishing works, engineering and utility networks, electricity supply, water supply and sewerage systems, lighting and ventilation systems, fire safety measures, and energy efficiency-related issues.

They also examined the ongoing landscaping works, the development of infrastructure around the building, and measures aimed at creating a safe and comfortable environment for students.

Rector Ilkhomjon Tuxtasinov provided information on the current stage of construction, the scope of completed works, upcoming tasks, and the measures being taken to prepare the new dormitory for commissioning.

 

 

Model Room and Conditions Being Created for Students

During the visit, a model room in the new student dormitory was also inspected. The visitors were shown the facilities provided in student living rooms, including bedding, furniture, desks and chairs for studying, storage cabinets, and the overall comfort of the rooms.

Particular attention was also paid to the organization of study and self-learning areas, recreation spaces, household facilities, sanitary and hygienic conditions, as well as lighting and ventilation systems.

The new dormitory is designed to provide students with an environment that goes beyond accommodation, enabling them to conveniently organize their studies, independent learning, leisure time, and everyday needs.

 

 

Quality and Safety as Key Priorities

During the inspection, particular attention was paid to the quality of construction works and ensuring the strength and reliability of the facility.

Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Qo‘ng‘irotboy Sharipov emphasized the need to strictly comply with established technical standards, continuously monitor the quality of construction materials used, ensure the structural strength of the building, and fully meet fire safety and other safety requirements.

It was also noted that, once the facility is commissioned, students must be provided with fully comfortable and safe conditions, while residential rooms and common areas must meet modern standards.

 

 

Specific Tasks Assigned to Those Responsible

At the conclusion of the visit, issues related to the high-quality completion of construction and finishing works, timely elimination of identified shortcomings, ensuring the full and stable operation of engineering and utility systems, landscaping of the surrounding area, and accelerating preparations for commissioning the facility were discussed.

Relevant instructions and recommendations were given to those responsible regarding continuous quality control of construction works, compliance with established deadlines, and the organization of student facilities in accordance with applicable requirements.

The commissioning of the new 1,100-bed student dormitory will further expand Uzbekistan State University of World Languages’ capacity to provide accommodation for students and create new opportunities for young people to live, study, engage in independent learning, and spend their free time meaningfully in modern, safe, and comfortable conditions.

The project represents one of the practical steps aimed at developing the university’s infrastructure, taking the conditions provided for students to a new level, and further improving the modern educational environment.
