Defense of the Doctor of Philosophy (DSc) Dissertation in Philology Took Place

On January 7, 2026, a meeting of the Academic Council dedicated to the defense of a Doctor of Philosophy (DSc) dissertation in Philology was held. The meeting was organized in an offline format at the Uzbekistan State World Languages University and simultaneously via the ZOOM online platform.

During the meeting, the dissertation of Abdullayeva Shokhida Norkulovna, prepared in the specialty 10.00.06 – Comparative Literature, Contrastive Linguistics, and Translation Studies, entitled “The Functional-Semantic Aspect of Translating Financial and Economic Texts from English into Uzbek,” submitted for the Doctor of Philosophy (DSc) degree in Philology, was defended.

The dissertation research is relevant to contemporary translation studies, providing a comprehensive analysis of the theoretical foundations and practical aspects of functional and semantic approaches in the translation of financial and economic texts.

The meeting was attended by the Rector of the Uzbekistan State World Languages University, Ilkhomjon Tukhtasinov, who emphasized the importance of developing research activities at the university, improving the quality of academic work, and highlighting the significance of research conducted in the field of translation studies.

During the defense, the candidate provided detailed and well-reasoned answers to the questions raised, and scientific discussions were held. Members of the Academic Council highly appreciated the scientific novelty, practical significance, and the contribution of the research results to the development of the field.

At the conclusion of the defense, a closed ballot vote was conducted in accordance with established procedures, and Abdullayeva Shokhida Norkulovna was recognized as deserving of the Doctor of Philosophy (DSc) degree in Philology.
