Doctoral Dissertation Discussed at the Department Meeting

On May 5, an extended meeting of the department was held to discuss a Doctor of Science (DSc) dissertation in the field of philology. The meeting was conducted in both traditional (offline) and online formats via the ZOOM platform.

During the meeting, the doctoral dissertation of Mirzo Mahmudovich Tursunov, prepared under the specialty 10.00.06 – “Comparative Literature, Comparative Linguistics, and Translation Studies,” was thoroughly discussed. The topic of the dissertation is:
“The Sociolinguistic Conditioning of the Representation of the ‘East and West’ Image in Media Discourse (Based on the English and Uzbek Languages).”

In the course of the discussion, participants shared their views on the relevance, scientific novelty, as well as the theoretical and practical significance of the dissertation.

In addition, comments and recommendations based on the conclusions of the official reviewers were presented.

At the end of the meeting, the participants positively evaluated the dissertation and decided to recommend it for the next stage.
