After the cultural event, a meeting was held at the rector’s office with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China and his advisors.
The meeting was attended by Vice-Rector for International Cooperation A. Nasirov, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research and Innovation O. Yusupov, Head of the International Cooperation Department Kh. Yuldashev, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Philology D. Djurayev, and Head of the Chinese Philology Department Sh. Khakimova.
During the discussion, A. Nasirov provided detailed information about UzSWLU’s activities and its cooperation with Chinese universities and put forward the following proposals:
1. Enhancing the qualifications of foreign language teachers, particularly Chinese language teachers, by organizing professional development courses funded by grants from the Chinese government and universities.
2. Increasing the number of scholarships for students.
3. Organizing Russian and Uzbek language courses for employees of more than 1,000 Chinese companies and enterprises operating in Uzbekistan, with the extensive involvement of the Language Center.
4. Establishing online and offline Russian or Uzbek language courses for Chinese applicants and students interested in studying at higher education institutions in Uzbekistan.
5. Admitting Chinese 9th-grade graduates to the academic lyceum affiliated with the university while simultaneously teaching them Russian or Uzbek.
6. Sending UzSWLU students for internships at Chinese companies and enterprises in Uzbekistan, allowing them to practice the Chinese language while acquiring professional skills for potential future employment.
7. Opening an Uzbek language department at Chinese universities where the Uzbek language is currently taught.
8. Launching joint projects or grants for translating Uzbek literary works into Chinese and Chinese literary works into Uzbek.
Ambassador Yu Jun acknowledged UzSWLU as the leading university in Uzbekistan for Chinese language studies and expressed gratitude for the proposals. He assured that he was ready to support their implementation. According to him, these initiatives will further strengthen ties between the youth and people of both countries and contribute significantly to Chinese language education in Uzbekistan.
At the end of the meeting, the guests received commemorative gifts and were seen off.
