Master Class Held at UzSWLU as Part of the International Media Forum
As part of the International Media Forum “Islamic Civilization: A New Perspective — New Discoveries,” a master class was held on August 24 at Uzbekistan State World Languages University with the participation of Charlotte Kramer, President of the German publishing house Müller & Schindler and CEO of Universal Art Group.
The event was opened by Ilkhomjon Tukhtasinov, Rector of UzSWLU, who introduced the guest to the participants. In his remarks, the Rector highlighted the significance of the master class in terms of international knowledge exchange and the development of students’ professional knowledge and skills.
The master class was organized for faculty members and students of the Faculty of International Journalism at UzSWLU, representing the following academic fields: International Journalism, Information Service and Public Relations, Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, and Linguistic Support for Intercultural Communication.
During the master class, Charlotte Kramer shared her extensive international experience in publishing, cultural heritage preservation, and working with historical manuscripts. Particular attention was paid to the preservation of rare manuscripts and historical works, the creation of their facsimile editions, and the promotion of cultural heritage internationally through modern approaches.
The event also featured a screening of the 45-minute documentary film “The Civilization of Transoxiana.”
The film explored the role of Transoxiana in the history of world civilization, the rich scientific, cultural, and educational environment that developed in the region, the legacy of its great scholars, and the contribution of this land to the development of scholarly and cultural ties between the East and the West.
Through the screening, participants gained a deeper understanding of the contemporary significance of the centuries-old traditions of science and culture that developed in Transoxiana, as well as the opportunities to present historical heritage to a wider audience through documentary and visual content and promote it internationally.
The master class and film screening enriched the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of students, particularly those studying journalism, information services, international relations, political science, sociology, and intercultural communication, in covering historical and cultural topics through the media.
At the conclusion of the event, faculty members and students engaged in an open dialogue with Charlotte Kramer and received answers to their questions concerning publishing, cultural heritage, and the presentation of historical sources to international audiences.
