On August 24, a cultural exchange event was held at the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages with the participation of school students visiting from Nagoya, Japan.

The event took place at the University’s Spirituality Center. Representatives of Japan’s Chuo High School and Sakuradai High School, including Masako Asai, Masahito Yoshida, tour coordinator Hikaru Honda, as well as 20 school students, took part in the event.

The event was also attended by D. Djuraev, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Philology at UzSWLU, N. Hamidova, Head of the Department of Japanese Philology, and X. Rakhimova, a lecturer at the department.

At the beginning of the event, the guests were warmly welcomed, and university representatives delivered cordial greetings. This was followed by a detailed presentation on the activities of the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages, its academic programs, and the Department of Japanese Philology.

As part of the cultural program, the guests were presented with a doira performance, a vivid example of Uzbek national musical art. The unique charm of Uzbek traditional art aroused great interest among the Japanese guests and left a warm impression.

In the next part of the event, the young visitors from Nagoya gave interesting presentations about their schools, educational process, and Japanese culture. They shared with UzSWLU students information about the customs and traditions of their country, as well as their experiences of school life.

One of the most interesting parts of the cultural exchange was a karuta competition, a traditional Japanese card game. Organized under the guidance of the Japanese school students, the competition gave UzSWLU students an opportunity to become more familiar with one of Japan’s traditional games.

A practical session on learning Uzbek national dance was also organized for the participants. The Japanese guests enthusiastically learned the traditional dance movements and performed the dance together with the students.

At the end of the event, which was held in an atmosphere of sincere communication, engaging presentations, and a harmonious blend of the cultures of the two nations, all participants took a group photo as a keepsake.

The cultural exchange event contributed to further developing friendly ties between the youth of Uzbekistan and Japan, promoting mutual understanding of the rich cultures and traditions of the two nations, and strengthening international cooperation in the field of education.

Such meetings play an important role in broadening young people’s horizons, fostering respect for the cultures of different peoples, and further developing friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Japan.
