On June 20, 2025, Professor Guli Ergasheva, Dean of the Faculty of English Language 1 at Uzbekistan State University of World Languages (UzSWLU), met with Ms. Sümeyye Erdoğan Bayraktar — founder and board member of the NGO KADEM (Women and Democracy Association), and daughter of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan — as part of her official visit to Türkiye.
The meeting focused on strategic initiatives related to gender equality, increasing women's participation in education, science, and social life, as well as fostering young leaders.
Ms. Sümeyye Erdoğan Bayraktar praised the achievements of the Republic of Uzbekistan in advancing gender equality. She highlighted that the country’s national strategy — particularly the comprehensive measures to strengthen women’s involvement in education and science — is commendable.
She also expressed high appreciation for the university's initiatives, especially those aimed at empowering women, and gladly announced her intention to visit UzSWLU during her official trip to Uzbekistan. The visit is expected to include scientific seminars, meetings with female leaders, and the signing of memoranda to enhance bilateral cooperation.
Additionally, in recognition of Professor Ergasheva’s academic and social contributions, she was invited to become a member of KADEM, a prestigious non-governmental organization. It was emphasized that this marks an important step in furthering bilateral collaboration.
For reference, KADEM (Women and Democracy Association) currently has 55 regional branches across Türkiye and is considered one of the most influential organizations promoting gender equality and women's rights. Professor Ergasheva had the honor of visiting the organization’s headquarters in Istanbul, becoming directly acquainted with its operations and holding strategic meetings with its leadership.
The UzSWLU community highly values such significant initiatives and remains committed to strengthening international cooperation.
