Opening ceremony of the Korea Culture and Education Center

On April 21, the opening ceremony of the Korea Culture and Education Center, established in cooperation with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), was held at Uzbekistan State World Languages University.

The event was attended by the university rector Ilkhomjon Tukhtasinov, KOICA Uzbekistan Country Director Shin Myung Seop, Secretary General of KIDC Kim Bok Hee, faculty members, students, and representatives of international partner organizations.

 

 

The event marked an important milestone in the university’s ongoing international projects.

The center was established under a 2025–2027 project based on a memorandum signed on January 16, 2025, between the university and KOICA.

The ceremony included an official opening, introduction of guests, a speech by the university rector, and congratulatory remarks from KOICA representatives. The program also featured a Korean traditional “Sogo” dance, K-pop performances by students, an Uzbek national dance, and a “Samulnori” musical performance.

The total project budget for 2025–2027 is 1,116,000 USD. Of this, 155,000 USD is allocated for the establishment and equipping of the center, while 145,000 USD is dedicated to strengthening the material and technical base, improving teacher qualifications, and organizing student events.

A total of 70 volunteers are planned to be involved in the program, arriving in five phases. So far, 38 volunteers have already participated, while 16 are currently active in various fields.

 

 

Afterwards, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held, and participants were introduced to the center’s activities.

The event concluded with the official launch of the Korea Culture and Education Center.
