Representative of the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages Returns from a Business Trip to the United Kingdom
Professor Gulnoz Iskandarovna Khaliyeva, Head of the Department of World Literature at the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages, has recently returned from a business trip to the United Kingdom. The trip was part of the ongoing scientific research efforts within the framework of the innovative project IL-27-4722022413, as outlined in the State Scientific Research Programs Plan.
During her academic visit, a number of significant achievements were made:
-
At Queen Mary University of London, Professor Khaliyeva presented books created as part of the IL-27-4722022413 innovative project, along with the “Comparativistics” electronic platform and the “Comparativistics” journal. Several classes for students were also organized.
-
A presentation was delivered at the international Scopus conference in Glasgow on March 28-29, where Professor Khaliyeva earned a certificate. Additionally, Professor F. Sapayeva and Senior Teacher F. Mannonova from the Department of World Literature participated remotely.
-
Professor Khaliyeva’s textbook “Comparative Literature,” available in four languages, was presented at the British Library. She also took part in the 100th anniversary celebration of the Edinburgh National Library.
-
In collaboration with Professor Galin Tikhonov of Queen Mary University and Professor Anna Ponomareva from the University of London’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities, a series of free World Literature classes were conducted for students of the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages. Furthermore, discussions were held about potential investments and academic cooperation between the institutions.
-
A new collaboration was established with professors from the World Literature Department at St. Andrews University, where the “academic family” mentoring system—where senior students guide first-year students—was studied. Students were also introduced to an innovative media-based task system and an independent learning approach.
-
Professor Khaliyeva explored interesting details surrounding the creation of the globally renowned “Harry Potter” series in Edinburgh.
-
As part of the trip, Professor Khaliyeva participated in professional development training in the advanced crowdsourcing technology prevalent in the UK. Based on this experience, she has developed a new scientific project on World Literature.
The new methods and advanced practices gained from this experience will soon be incorporated into the activities of the university and the Department of World Literature.
