The Activities of the Korean Language and Culture Center Were Reviewed
On April 8, 2026, the Rector of the Uzbekistan State World Languages University, I. Tuxtasinov, accompanied by the Head of the International Cooperation Department and the Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Philology, reviewed the ongoing work at the Korean Language and Culture Center being established under a grant from KOICA.
During the visit, the rector examined the technical equipment, facilities, furniture, as well as traditional Korean clothing and musical instruments provided by KOICA for the center. The center’s design was also inspected, and the current status of project implementation was evaluated.
In addition, preparations for the center’s opening ceremony, scheduled for April 21, 2026, with the participation of the Ambassador of Korea to Uzbekistan and KOICA officials, were reviewed.
For reference, under an agreement with KOICA, a project worth USD 1,116,000 aimed at developing Korean language and culture is being implemented at the university. The project is planned for three years, during which 70 volunteer teachers from Korea are expected to be involved. They will conduct Korean language classes, organize cultural events, and establish clubs for taekwondo, dance, and music.
To date, 38 volunteers have visited the university. Starting from April 8, an additional 15 volunteers are participating in adaptation and Uzbek language courses, after which they will begin their activities.
