2026-07-06 10-46 Uzbekistan State World Languages University Expands Cooperation with Indonesia’s Leading Higher Education Institutions
On 3 July, Uzbekistan State World Languages University hosted another official meeting with Professor Haris Supratno, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Surabaya State University and Rector of Hashim Asy'ari University, as well as Dr. Ima Widyanah, Director of the Lab School of Surabaya State University and Head of its Education Quality Assurance Department.
During the meeting, the parties held comprehensive discussions on the prospects for further strengthening cooperation between the two higher education institutions. Particular attention was given to enhancing the teaching of the Indonesian language and other foreign languages at USWLU, improving the professional development of faculty members and students, establishing academic exchange programmes, conducting joint research projects, publishing articles in prestigious international scientific journals, and jointly organising international scientific and practical conferences.
The Indonesian delegation also introduced several important initiatives aimed at expanding practical cooperation. In particular, it was announced that, beginning with the new academic year, grants would be provided for 20 students of Uzbekistan State World Languages University to pursue master's degree studies at Surabaya State University. In addition, two students and one Indonesian language instructor from Surabaya State University are expected to participate in an academic exchange programme at USWLU.
Furthermore, it was noted that, through grants provided under the BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing) programme, students studying the Indonesian language at USWLU will have opportunities to undertake language training and professional development at Surabaya State University and other leading higher education institutions in Indonesia.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Memoranda of Understanding were signed between Uzbekistan State World Languages University, Surabaya State University, and Hashim Asy'ari University to further strengthen institutional cooperation.
These agreements will elevate academic cooperation between the higher education institutions of the two countries to a new level by expanding student and faculty exchange programmes, promoting joint educational and research initiatives, and strengthening collaboration within the international higher education community.
