Uzbekistan’s Higher Education and Science Reforms Presented at the Tsukuba Conference
On October 1, 2025, the fourth Tsukuba Conference was held in Tsukuba, Japan, under the theme “Co-Creating the Future through Collaboration with Society,” with the participation of the Uzbek delegation led by the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Qo‘ng‘irotboy Sharipov.
The delegation also included Ilkhomjon Tukhtasinov, Rector of Uzbekistan State University of World Languages.
Held at the Tsukuba International Congress Center, the conference brought together representatives from government, industry, and academia to discuss global challenges — such as poverty, drought, international conflicts, and pandemics — and explore ways to address them through science and innovation. Strengthening international scientific cooperation was also a key topic.
In their speeches, members of the Uzbek delegation highlighted the large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan’s higher education and science sectors, international experience sharing, joint research projects, support for youth startups, and efforts to enhance university autonomy.
The “Tsukuba 2025” conference was also attended by Nobel laureates, scholars from leading global universities, and executives of prominent corporations. The event took place from October 1 to 3 and featured 35 sessions and activities.
