UzSWLU Holds Meeting with KOICA Leadership and Volunteers

On August 11, a meeting was held at Uzbekistan State University of World Languages (UzSWLU) with representatives of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), including its leadership and volunteers.

The meeting was attended by Ilkhomjon Tuxtasinov, Rector of UzSWLU; Abdurahim Nasirov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation; Kh. Yuldashev, Head of the International Cooperation Department; D. Djuraev, Dean of the Faculty of Eastern Philology; M. Absalomov, Head of the Department of Korean Philology; Kim Siyon, Deputy Director of KOICA; project coordinators Cha Juna and Shukurullo Shukurov; as well as KOICA volunteers.

The meeting focused on the current results of cooperation between UzSWLU and KOICA and prospects for further collaboration.

It was noted that the KOICA Volunteer Program is being implemented at UzSWLU for the fourth time. To date, 54 volunteers have worked at the university within the framework of the program, conducting classes for students on the Korean language and culture. In addition, student clubs have been established in K-Pop, samulnori, and taekwondo.

Particular attention was also paid to the activities of the Korea Education and Culture Center, which was opened on April 21 this year at the Faculty of Eastern Philology. The center provides new opportunities for students to deepen their knowledge of the Korean language and culture, become more familiar with Korean arts, and develop their language skills and knowledge in an immersive language environment.

The participants also put forward proposals to further expand the center’s activities. In particular, they discussed the possibility of using additional rooms for developing e-learning platforms based on artificial intelligence technologies, organizing TOPIK preparation courses, and establishing laboratories and libraries.

The participants exchanged views on the possibility of involving Korean experts in these areas and implementing new projects in 2027.

The meeting also covered the organization of Uzbek language and adaptation courses for students, expanding language and culture classes for Korean-language groups, and defining the future plans and responsibilities of KOICA volunteers.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants exchanged views on further strengthening cooperation between UzSWLU and KOICA through new projects in education, language learning, and cultural exchange.
