2026-09-22 08-42 UZSWLU LECTURER BEGINS RESEARCH ACTIVITIES IN SLOVAKIA
Asem Bekseitovna Kuandikova, a lecturer at the Department of Theoretical Aspects of the English Language No. 3, Faculty of English Language No. 3, Uzbekistan State University of World Languages, has begun research activities at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University (UPJŠ) in Slovakia under Category C of the Slovak Government’s National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic (NSP), designated for university teachers and researchers.
As part of her research internship, which began in early September 2026, Asem Kuandikova is conducting research and practical activities on the topic “Exploring the Influence of Reflective Practices and Contextual Factors on ESP (English for Specific Purposes) Teachers’ Materials Selection and Evaluation.” The study examines the influence of reflective practices and contextual factors on ESP teachers’ processes of selecting and evaluating teaching materials.
On 21 September 2026, Asem Kuandikova met with representatives of the Department of British and American Studies at the Faculty of Arts of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University. The meeting was attended by the researcher’s academic supervisor, Associate Professor Renáta Timková, the university’s Vice-Rector for International Relations, and Professor Slávka Tomaščíková, Head of the Department of British and American Studies.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the research topic, the main areas of research and practical activities, the stages of the research process, and the researcher’s further academic activity plan at the university.
This research internship provides an important opportunity to expand the international academic experience of UZSWLU faculty members, strengthen research cooperation with foreign higher education institutions, and gain experience in contemporary research approaches.
