On February 17, employees of the Department for Working with International Rankings at the Uzbekistan State World Languages University visited the Tashkent Medical Academy.
The purpose of the visit was to study the academy's achievements in international rankings and to apply this experience at the Uzbekistan State World Languages University.
During the meeting, the head of the Digital Education Technologies Center at the academy, Abrorjon Musaxonov, who is responsible for international rankings, shared the academy's experience with working with QS and Times Higher Education ranking agencies. Drawing from TMA's experience, he emphasized the importance of Research, International presence, and PR in entering the rankings. He noted that these three indicators are key factors affecting any university's ranking position and can help improve it.
Furthermore, Abrorjon Kamolitdinovich Musaxonov discussed:
- Collaborating with partner universities on Academic Reputation and Employer Reputation to gather as many votes as possible;
- Developing a strategy aimed at improving the Uzbekistan State World Languages University's ranking position by 2030;
- Collecting necessary information timely and accurately for submission to ranking agencies;
- Enhancing the university's international recognition through participation in conferences organized by THE and QS ranking agencies by the rector or vice-rector and promoting the university at these events.
The expert highlighted that publishing a minimum of 150 articles per year in journals indexed in the Scopus Web of Science database for THE ranking and at least 100 for QS ranking, and utilizing these rankings' paid services can lead to high results.
The staff of the Uzbekistan State World Languages University asked Abrorjon Kamolitdinovich many questions about working with rankings and received necessary answers.
As a result of the visit to the TMA, the staff of the Uzbekistan State World Languages University gained valuable information on working with international rankings. They also had the opportunity to exchange experiences with their counterparts from Uzbekistan's leading medical institution and planned to practically apply the acquired knowledge at the Uzbekistan State World Languages University.
