A festive event dedicated to "December 18 - International Arabic Language Day" was held today at the Uzbek State University of World Languages. The program began with a presentation of books in Arabic and a table of Arabic national dishes. There was also an exhibition of the famous Arabic calligrapher Haj Wafa. The main event program was presented by the rector of UzSWLU B.U. Azizov explained. Ambassadors of 8 Arab states to Uzbekistan, including the Ambassador of Palestine to Uzbekistan Mr. Muhammad Tarshaha, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Uzbekistan Amira Fahmi, the Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Professor A.B. Abdukhalimovs also took part and spoke in Arabic. During the event, students competed in public speaking skills, expressive reading of poetry and performances. At the end of the program, students sang beautiful songs in Arabic and awarded those who actively participated.
