Department of Information Service and Public Relations

Department History: The Faculty of International Journalism was established at the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages in accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On improving the system of training and retraining journalists" dated February 26, 1999. Initially, our department, named "Theory and History of Journalism," was headed by B. Dustkoraev. On September 1, 1999, the department began teaching its students in the specialty at building 104 on Muqumiy Street in the Chilanzar district.

In the early years, experienced teachers such as Professor G. Salomov, Associate Professor S. Umirov, A. Nurmatov, H. Saidov, T. Kahhor, I. Ismailova, Sh. Kholmatova, N. Nomozova, F. Muminov, Kh. Dustmuhammad, H. Akbarov, S. Sodiq, M. Sa'diy, N. Toshpulatov, A. Karimov, Kh. Makhamadaliev, N. Kasimova, T. Eshbek, and I. Abdukholikov taught various disciplines. Academician B. Nazarov, national writer O. Khoshimov, Doctor of Sciences F. Muminova, Candidates of Sciences O. Toshboyev, O. Usarov, I. Rakhmatullaeva, P. Allamberganova, sports commentator A. Imomkhodzhaev, experienced publicist E. Shukur, Sh. Ubaydullaev, and others, although they worked part-time for short periods, left a good impression with their meaningful lessons, books, articles, broadcasts, and shows. In the early years, American scientists such as Nicholas Daniloff, Richard Schaefer, Eric Friedman, Alfred Kupers, and others gave lectures on various fields of journalism. Northeastern University in Boston, USA, donated about 100 books to the faculty library. A group of our scientists went to Boston for professional development.

  • 2019-2020 - Head of the Department of Theory and Practice of International Journalism O. Toshboyev.

Since 2021, the department has been renamed the Department of Information Service and Public Relations. In 2022-2023, the head of the Department of Information Service and Public Relations was M. Akhmedova. Since 2024, the head of the Department of Information Service and Public Relations is S.S. Yuldashbekova.

    Scientific Potential of the Department:

    In 2021, the department's faculty members N. Kasimova, D. Aminova, H. Saidov, and B. Alimov received the degree of Doctor of Sciences.

    In 2023, O. Kulmurodova, and in 2024, M. Saidova, M. Mahmudova, and R. Zaripova received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

    In 2024, B. Alimov and A. Karimov received the title of Associate Professor.
