International Journalism Faculty
History of the Faculty: According to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated February 26, 1999, the Faculty of International Journalism was established at the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages. Based on the resolution "On improving the system of training and retraining of journalistic personnel" adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan on February 26, 1999, the Faculty of International Journalism was created within the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages.
In the early years, experienced educators such as Professor G.Salomov, Associate Professor S.Umirov, A.Nurmatov, H.Saidov, T.Kahhor, Y.Mamatova, I.Ismailova, Sh.Kholmatova, N.Nomozova, F.Muminov, Kh.Dustmuhammad, H.Akbarov, S.Sodiq, M.Sa’diy, N.Toshpolatov, A.Karimov, X.Maxamadaliyev, N.Qosimova, T.Eshbek, and I.Abduxoliqov taught various fields of the subject. minova, candidates of science O.Toshboyev, O.Osarov, I.Rahmatullayeva, P.Allamberganova, sports commentator A.Imomxo
jayev, experienced publicist E.Shukur, Sh.Ubaydullayev, and others, although working for a short time—on a half-quarter basis or by the hour—left a significant impact with their substantive lessons, book contributions, broadcasts, and programs.
In the initial years, American scholars such as Nicholas Daniloff, Richard Sheyfer, Erik Fridman, Alfred Kupers, and others gave lectures in various areas of journalism. The faculty library of Northeastern University in Boston, USA, donated nearly 100 books. A group of our scholars visited Boston for further professional development and returned with enhanced qualifications.

The faculty offers undergraduate programs in “International Journalism”, “Information Services and Public Relations”, “Political Science”, “International Relations”, “Sociology”, and “Linguistic Support of Intercultural Communication”. It also offers graduate programs in “International Journalism” and “Information Services and Public Relations”.
The faculty has established strong partnerships with foreign universities, including Suleyman Demirel University, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Osh State University, and Turkistan State University. The faculty also has successful international relations with the USA, with a grant of $20,000 allocated for broadcasting equipment. Currently, the faculty has a media center equipped with high-quality equipment.
In the field of international cooperation, the faculty has organized international seminars and training sessions with the support of the Uzbekistan Journalists’ Retraining International Center, the UNESCO office in Uzbekistan, and the National Mass Media Support and Development Public Foundation. Regular masterclasses are conducted with the participation of international trainers. Over the next three years, more than 20 publications in the field of journalism will be published.
Textbooks and Teaching Materials:
The curriculum and textbooks have been prepared for publication. Additionally, the faculty has established connections with foreign partners, including Sultan Idris University (Malaysia), INTI International University, the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Indonesia, Gunadarma University in Indonesia, Lund University (Sweden), Sciences Po in France, Nagoya and Sapporo Universities in Japan, Marmara University in Turkey, and the Southern Federal University in Russia. Teacher and student exchange programs have been implemented, and collaborative academic articles are being published.
The “Political Science” department maintains extensive cooperation with various state and public organizations, political parties, and media outlets in our country. Furthermore, the “Political Science” department has a network of foreign partnerships in the field of teaching social-political sciences and conducting scientific and fundamental research. These partnerships include Lund University (Sweden), Sciences Po (France), Nagoya and Sapporo Universities (Japan), Marmara University (Turkey), and Southern Federal University (Russia).
