Department of Theoretical Sciences of the Spanish Language

Department Establishment Date: The Department of Theoretical Sciences of the Spanish Language was established in September 2021.

Head of Department: Tuaramuratova Iroda Ilkhombaevna.

Department Structure: The department employs 20 instructors, of which 14 are full-time staff members, and 5 work on a part-time basis.

Academic Potential of the Department: The department's academic potential is 23%, with key faculty members including: Oltiyev Temir Zhonimboevich (Ph.D., Associate Professor), Tuaramuratova Iroda Ilkhombaevna (Ph.D., Associate Professor), and Khalillaev Adilbek Kurambayevich (Ph.D., Associate Professor).

Department Activities: The department has cooperation agreements with 7 Spanish universities: The University of Salamanca, the University of León, the University of Zaragoza, the University of La Rioja, the University of Jaén, the University of Seville, and the University of Alicante. Through the Erasmus+ (Credit Mobility) exchange program with Spanish universities, 4 projects are being implemented in collaboration with the University of Córdoba, the University of La Rioja, the University of Jaén, the University of Cádiz, the University of Seville, and the University of Alicante.

Achievements: The department focuses on training specialists in the Spanish language. As part of the international Erasmus+ projects, 5 department instructors and over 10 students have received training. Under the "El-Yurt Umidi" foundation program, one instructor underwent training. Additionally, one instructor completed a 129-hour internship at the University of La Rioja, Spain, from May 1 to June 3, 2022, to fulfill tasks outlined in Presidential Administration Order No. 02.-PA/1-1030 dated June 22, 2021. Department instructors and students work as translators in various fields, including science, arts, sports, and tourism.

Currently, as part of local partnerships, our department engages in scientific and professional cooperation with the modern "Tomiris School," managed by the "El Golazo Academy Powered by Real Madrid Foundation" football academy, located in the Bekabad district of Tashkent region.

Additional Information: Spanish has been taught in Uzbekistan since 1961. At the Uzbek State University of World Languages, over 320 students study Spanish as their primary language, and more than 1,500 students study it as a secondary foreign language.
