 Russian Philology Faculty

History of the Faculty: The Faculty of Russian Philology was established in 1992 following the merger of the Tashkent Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages and the Republican Institute of Russian Language and Literature, leading to the creation of the Uzbek State University of World Languages (USWLU). Since then, the faculty has been operating within the university.

Since its establishment, the faculty has played a crucial role in training highly qualified specialists for the higher education, secondary vocational, and general education systems, as well as other sectors of society.

The faculty continues the traditions of training specialists in the field of Russian philology, combining years of experience with modern teaching methods and scientific research.

The faculty offers bachelor's and master's degrees in the following specialties: “Philology and Language Teaching (Russian Language)”, “Russian Language in Groups with Other Native Languages”, “Mother Tongue and Literature (Russian Language)”, “Linguistics”, “Literary Studies”, “Mother Tongue and Literature”.

In the field of international cooperation, during the 2023–2024 academic years, the faculty signed cooperation agreements with international universities. These universities include Osh State University (Kyrgyz Republic), Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Republic of Kazakhstan), M.V. Lomonosov Northern (Arctic) Federal University (Russian Federation), Belarusian State University (Republic of Belarus), and M.A. Auezov South Kazakhstan State University (Republic of Kazakhstan).

In March 2024, a contract was signed between UzSWLU and St. Petersburg State University to conduct the state test in Russian as a foreign language. According to the contract, the Department of Russian Language and Teaching Methodology organizes test sessions to obtain the TRKI language proficiency certificate.

Every year, on September 27, the faculty organizes the international conference “Vinogradov Readings” in Tashkent to strengthen international relations and promote interest in the Russian language.

Young faculty members and students of the faculty are permanent participants in the “Russian World” Assembly organized by the “Russkiy Mir” Foundation in Russia.
