A Festive Event Dedicated to Press and Mass Media Workers’ Day Was Held at UzSWLU
On June 26, 2026, Uzbekistan State World Languages University organized a festive event dedicated to June 27 — Press and Mass Media Workers’ Day.
The event was opened by the Rector of the university, Professor Ilkhomjon Tukhtasinov, who sincerely congratulated representatives of the field, faculty members, journalists, and students studying journalism on their professional holiday.

In his congratulatory speech, the Rector emphasized that in today’s era of globalization, the importance of the information space is steadily increasing, and that providing society with prompt, objective, and reliable information, truthfully covering events, and shaping public opinion are honorable and responsible duties of journalists.
He also noted that the role of mass media in promptly and objectively conveying information about the reforms being implemented in New Uzbekistan to the wider public and the international community is invaluable. He emphasized that training competitive journalists who possess excellent foreign language skills and high professional competence is one of the priority tasks of Uzbekistan State World Languages University.
At the event, the university’s honorary mentors Khurshid Do‘stmuhammad, Ahmed Jasim Abbas Al-Zubaidi, sports commentator Mirzahakim To‘xtamirzayev, television journalist Nozima Vohidova, and other representatives of the field addressed the audience and sincerely congratulated the participants on their professional holiday.

In their speeches, the guests expressed their views on the role of journalism in the development of society, the importance of mass media in the life of the country, the dedication of media professionals, and issues related to providing objective, prompt, and reliable information in today’s information environment. They also highly appreciated the attention paid to journalism education at the university, the work being carried out to train young specialists, and expressed gratitude to the university administration for organizing the festive event at a high professional level.
During the event, the contributions of the university’s faculty members, journalism mentors, and the Information Service Department team in widely covering university activities and promptly and effectively communicating its academic, educational, and international achievements to the public were recognized.
During the ceremonial part of the event, on the occasion of Press and Mass Media Workers’ Day, a group of faculty members, journalists, Information Service employees, and journalism students were awarded Certificates of Appreciation for their worthy contribution to widely covering the university’s educational, scientific, spiritual-enlightenment, cultural, and international activities in mass media and digital platforms, enhancing the university’s reputation, and developing effective cooperation.
The event continued in a festive atmosphere, during which the hard work, professional dedication, and valuable contribution of media professionals to the development of the university were once again highly recognized. The meeting became a platform for sincere dialogue, serving to further enhance the prestige of journalism, facilitate the exchange of experience, and educate young journalists in the spirit of professional dedication.
