A Meeting with the TIKA Project Coordinator Was Organized
On January 14, 2026, a meeting with the project coordinator of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) in Tashkent was held at the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages.

The meeting was attended by Ms. Esin Ajar Ergin, Project Coordinator of TIKA, as well as Turkish volunteer teacher Iqbal Guler. Representing the university were the Rector of UzSWLU I. Tukhtasinov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation A. Nasirov, Head of the International Cooperation Department Kh. Yuldashev, Dean of the Faculty of Translation Studies U. Yuldoshev, and Turkish language instructor D. Axmedjanova.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the establishment of a Turkish Language Translation Center and a Simultaneous Interpretation Laboratory at the Faculty of Translation Studies with financial support from TIKA. In particular, detailed discussions were held on organizational arrangements, material and technical support, and funding (grants) within the framework of the project.
The parties emphasized that the project would play a significant role in improving the quality of Turkish language education and in training highly qualified specialists equipped with modern translation skills, and agreed to continue cooperation on a consistent basis.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the guests, accompanied by the Rector of the university, visited the premises allocated for the establishment of the Turkish Language Translation Center and the Simultaneous Interpretation Laboratory. It is planned that these facilities will be equipped with modern educational materials and technical infrastructure at the Faculty of Translation Studies with financial support from TIKA.
Background information:
– Turkish has been taught at UzSWLU since 1992, and since 2023 it has been introduced as an independent language within the translation studies program;
– Currently, 260 students study Turkish as a first foreign language in 17 groups at the university;
– Turkish is also taught as a second foreign language at the Faculties of English and International Journalism, with 220 students enrolled;
– In total, 480 students are studying Turkish language and literature as well as Turkish translation studies;
– With financial support from TIKA, it is planned to equip the Turkish Language Translation Center and the Simultaneous Interpretation Laboratory at the Faculty of Translation Studies.
