Address by the Rector of the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages

Dear students, respected parents, and esteemed teachers!

Today, factors that negatively affect upbringing, consciousness, and thinking have become more active and are entering the lives of young people in various ways. In particular, the growing spread of drugs and psychoactive substances poses a serious threat to the healthy development of our society.

Therefore, protecting young people has become one of the top priorities of our state policy. The documents being adopted and the reforms being implemented pursue one goal — to ensure that our children grow up healthy, active, and spiritually mature.

Dear students!

Your decisions today will shape your life tomorrow. A momentary curiosity or the thought “What happens if I try it?” can take a person away from all their dreams. Drugs have no justification — they spare neither teachers nor students, neither families nor society.

You are the youth who carry the name of USUWL, the trust of your teachers, and the hopes of your parents into a bright future. Value yourselves, protect your lives, and stay firm in your healthy choices.

If you notice unusual situations around you, or if someone’s behavior causes concern — don’t stay silent. One alert can save a life.

Respected parents!

Attention to your children, open conversation, and trusting relationships are the strongest protection against danger. Noticing their mood, listening to their concerns, and knowing who their friends are — these are key components of family upbringing.

Honored teachers!

Every word you say, every piece of advice, and every bit of attention you give plays a decisive role in a student’s life choices. We rely on your dedication to strengthen a healthy environment at our university and raise awareness among young people about harmful habits.

Dear team!

The fight against drug addiction is not the task of one institution alone — it is the duty of the entire society. If we unite, stay vigilant, and extend a helping hand without hesitation — we can reliably protect the future of our youth.

The future is built by today’s decisions. Let us walk this path together — responsibly and courageously.
