First Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Uzbekistan–French University Held

On June 18, 2026, the first meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Uzbekistan–French University was held. The meeting was chaired by Kongratboy Sharipov, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

The meeting was attended by Valéed Fuque, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Uzbekistan, representatives of partner higher education institutions from Uzbekistan and France, members of the Board of Trustees, and Ilkhomjon Tukhtasinov, Rector of the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages and member of the Board of Trustees.

 

 

During the meeting, participants discussed the implementation of the Presidential Resolution of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated November 26, 2025, “On Measures for the Establishment of the Uzbekistan–French University,” as well as the University’s strategic development priorities, the organization of the educational process, the expansion of international cooperation, and the formation of its governance system.

The agenda included the approval of the Board of Trustees’ regulations, consideration of the University’s 2026 work plan and budget, determination of admission procedures for master's degree programs for the 2026/2027 academic year, and issues related to cooperation with the University of Poitiers in the field of educational services.

A.A. Nasirov, Acting Rector of the University, presented a report on the work being carried out at the Uzbekistan–French University, existing challenges, and proposed solutions to address them.

 

 

Discussions also focused on adapting existing infrastructure for the University’s needs, constructing additional academic buildings, strengthening the material and technical base, and launching a master's program in French language studies beginning in the 2026/2027 academic year. Participants further exchanged views on admission procedures and the organization of academic activities based on the accredited educational programs of the University of Poitiers.

At the conclusion of the meeting, important decisions were adopted to ensure the effective establishment of the University’s organizational, legal, and academic framework, further strengthen cooperation between higher education institutions of Uzbekistan and France, and train highly qualified specialists in line with international standards.
