On December 29, 2025, a delegation from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) visited the Uzbekistan State World Languages University (UzSWLU). The delegation included Deputy Director of the KOICA Office in Uzbekistan Kim Shiyon, Project Coordinator Cha Juna, local project managers No Yunmi and Anvar Shomirzaev, as well as intern Pak Minjong.

During the meeting, the Rector of UzSWLU, I. Tukhtasinov, expressed his sincere gratitude to KOICA for its long-standing practical support and selfless cooperation in implementing projects aimed at improving the teaching of the Korean language and literature. Special thanks were also extended for the donation of ten boxes of books to the Faculty of Oriental Philology.

The parties exchanged views on prospects for future cooperation. In particular, Ms. Kim Shiyon noted the widespread use of artificial intelligence technologies in various fields and expressed KOICA’s readiness to cooperate in introducing information and communication technologies, including artificial intelligence components, into foreign language education, as well as in developing electronic platforms and software solutions. She also informed that KOICA specialists had already begun work in this area and that a visit to Uzbekistan was planned for February 2026.

In turn, I. Tukhtasinov emphasized that, at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, systematic efforts are being made to introduce artificial intelligence into all sectors of the economy, including the education system. He proposed developing a new joint project with KOICA and establishing a specialized center at UzSWLU. Ms. Kim Shiyon supported the proposal and confirmed the Korean side’s readiness to implement the project.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their readiness to further expand and strengthen cooperation in the fields of education and innovation.
