MY MOTHER TONGUE — MY NATIONAL PRIDE, IDENTITY AND SPIRITUAL TREASURE
A spiritual and educational event entitled “The Uzbek Language — A Symbol of Our National Pride and Spiritual Heritage” was held at the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology of Uzbekistan State World Languages University to mark the 37th anniversary of Uzbek being granted the status of the state language.
The event was opened by A. K. Khalillayev, Dean of the Faculty. In his speech, he highlighted the unparalleled richness and unique beauty of our mother tongue, as well as its significant role in the spiritual life of our nation. He emphasized that preserving our language, further enhancing its prestige, and passing it on to future generations in a worthy manner are important responsibilities shared by us all.
The event was attended by the faculty’s professors and lecturers, heads of departments, deputy deans, tutors, and the leader of the university’s primary Youth Union organization.
Students recited poems celebrating their mother tongue, delivered heartfelt greetings in different languages, and performed musical pieces. Traditional dances added a special charm to the celebration, while a theatrical performance conveying the importance of preserving and cherishing the mother tongue left a profound impression on the audience.
The event helped strengthen young people’s love and respect for their mother tongue, reinforce their commitment to national values, and promote the Uzbek language as an invaluable part of the nation’s spiritual heritage.
After all, language is the soul of a nation, a living testament to its history, and a solid foundation for its future.
