On June 10, an online meeting was held between Uzbekistan State World Languages University and representatives of Georgian higher education institutions.

The meeting was attended by Kaxa Khandolishvili, Head of the Strategic Planning and International Relations Department of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, and Erekle Astakhishvili, Vice-Rector for International Relations at Tbilisi State University.

During the meeting, Rector of Uzbekistan State World Languages University Ilkhomjon Tukhtasinov proposed to establish effective cooperation with Tbilisi State University in the following areas:

  • Exchange of students, professors, and researchers;

  • Development of scientific and practical programs and projects;

  • Joint organization of conferences, seminars, training courses, and internships;

  • Introduction of Georgian language teaching at Uzbekistan State World Languages University.

Rector Tukhtasinov also emphasized that developing a cooperation agreement and a roadmap outlining the main areas of partnership would strengthen the legal foundation of bilateral relations.

Vice-Rector Erekle Astakhishvili expressed readiness to begin mutually beneficial cooperation and requested that the drafts of the agreement and roadmap be submitted as soon as possible. He also noted that Georgia has regulatory requirements for reviewing such documents, which takes time.

Ilkhomjon Tukhtasinov announced that, in accordance with a government directive, a delegation from the university plans to visit Georgia in the near future. However, Erekle Astakhishvili stated that due to foreign trips scheduled in June with the rector of Tbilisi State University, it would not be possible to receive the delegation and sign the agreement during that period.

Kaxa Khandolishvili from the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia confirmed readiness to provide practical support in developing ties between the two universities and organizing the Uzbek delegation’s visit.

At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to accelerate cooperation and move to a practical phase.
