Online Dialogue Held with Representatives of the University of Buenos Aires

On August 20, 2026, an online dialogue was held between representatives of the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages and the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

For reference, the University of Buenos Aires is one of Argentina’s prestigious higher education institutions and ranks 84th in the world university rankings. The university has approximately 300,000 students. It has 72 research institutes, where more than 17,000 researchers conduct academic research.

Among the university’s students and professors, five have been awarded the Nobel Prize: Carlos Saavedra Lamas, Bernardo Houssay, Luis Federico Leloir, Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, and César Milstein. In addition, 16 Presidents of Argentina have graduated from the University of Buenos Aires, the most recent being Alberto Fernández.

During the dialogue, the parties discussed the implementation of the agreements reached during the visit of the delegation of UzSWLU, headed by Rector I. Tuxtasinov, to the University of Buenos Aires on April 24–25, 2025.

Particular attention was paid to the exchange of faculty members, researchers, and students, conducting joint research, and further improving the quality of Spanish language teaching at UzSWLU.

Martin Gonzalez, Secretary for Transfer, Inter-Institutional and International Relations at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires, announced that starting from the second semester of the 2026/2027 academic year, Fernando Bogado, PhD, a Spanish language instructor at the faculty, will be sent to teach at the Faculty of Germanic and Romance Philology. It was noted that the relevant documents concerning the coverage of Fernando Bogado’s airfare and other expenses are currently being processed.

H. Yuldashev, Head of the International Cooperation Department of UzSWLU, provided information about the conditions the university will create for foreign faculty members, including free accommodation in a student dormitory, as well as the financial arrangements.

The University of Buenos Aires representatives were also presented with proposals to establish academic mobility exchange programs for students, involve students in independent research activities, support researchers in conducting research on Central Asian studies, organize professional development courses for foreign language teachers, and implement joint professional development programs.

Fernando Bogado expressed interest in conducting research in the fields of Uzbek language and literature and comparative linguistics and requested practical assistance in these areas.

A. Nasirov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, emphasized that the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages is ready to develop cooperation with the University of Buenos Aires in education, research, and other areas.

The meeting was organized by Dilrabo Bakhronova, Head of the Department of Practical Spanish Language Disciplines, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor. During the dialogue, she provided the representative of the University of Buenos Aires with information about Uzbek language and literature, culture, and translation studies.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain regular communication, exchange views on new proposals and initiatives, and consistently implement the existing agreements.
