Online Meeting Held Between Uzbekistan State World Languages University and Northern (Arctic) Federal University
On June 16, an online meeting was held between Uzbekistan State World Languages University (USWLU) and Northern (Arctic) Federal University (NArFU), Russia.
The meeting was attended by Elena Ivanova, Deputy Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of NArFU; Svetlana Pirogova, Head of the International Cooperation Department; Oksana Zaretskaya, Director of the Higher School of Social and Humanitarian Sciences and International Communication; Elena Vorobyeva, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs; Polina Golomidova, Head of the Recruiting Department and Coordinator for Scientific and Educational Cooperation with Central and Southeast Asia; and Olga Pechenkina, Head of the Department of English Philology, Nordic Languages, and Linguodidactics.
A. Nasirov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation of USWLU, provided an overview of the university’s activities and proposed expanding cooperation, including launching Swedish language instruction at USWLU.
Elena Ivanova expressed NArFU’s strong interest in launching joint educational programs and noted that the university would consider sending Swedish and Finnish language specialists to teach at USWLU.
Olga Pechenkina mentioned that although Finnish language instruction at the university began in 1998, it is currently suspended. However, she confirmed that USWLU’s proposals would be shared with a Finnish language instructor currently enrolled in a PhD program.
The two sides affirmed their readiness to collaborate in scientific research, establish student internship and exchange programs, and implement joint academic initiatives.
At the end of the meeting, both parties agreed to define and discuss priority areas of cooperation in future sessions.
