Opportunities Created to Provide Students with Accommodation Presented to Journalists
On August 22, ahead of the new academic year, a press tour was organized to familiarize media representatives with the work being carried out to provide students with accommodation.
During the press tour, journalists, bloggers, and media representatives visited Uzbekistan State University of World Languages from Tashkent State University of Economics and learned about the activities of the headquarters established to provide students with accommodation, the existing student dormitories, and the facilities and conditions created there.
Rector of Uzbekistan State University of World Languages, Professor Ilkhomjon Tukhtasinov, provided the press tour participants with detailed information about the university’s ongoing efforts to provide students with accommodation, the available opportunities, and preparations for the new academic year.
Media representatives were also shown the student dormitories under the university’s management, dormitories operating under public-private partnership arrangements, and the living conditions created for students.
During the visit, the participants inspected residential rooms, sanitary and hygienic facilities, engineering and utility systems, safety measures, and other amenities provided for students. It was also noted that yellow tactile pathways have been installed for blind and visually impaired students, enabling them to move independently and safely throughout the buildings.
The press tour participants were also introduced to a new student dormitory currently under construction on the university campus. The Rector of Uzbekistan State University of World Languages provided information about the ongoing construction work, the current status of the facility, and the conditions being created for students.
The project is being implemented under a public-private partnership. Construction of the new 9-storey student dormitory with a capacity of 1,100 places began on March 18, 2025. The total project cost is 80.8 billion soums, of which 45.8 billion soums are being financed by the private initiator and 35 billion soums from the state budget.
During the visit, journalists received answers from responsible officials to their questions regarding student placement, the formation of rental housing options, the construction of the new dormitory, and the conditions being created for students.

• Seven student dormitories under Uzbekistan State University of World Languages have prepared 3,441 places for the new academic year.
• Of these, 374 places are designated for male students and 3,067 places for female students.
• To expand accommodation opportunities for students, 1,630 rental apartments have been identified, providing 10,457 places.
• A total of 13,898 places have been prepared for the 2026–2027 academic year. Of these, 3,441 places are in student dormitories and 10,457 places are in rental apartments.
• Student placement in dormitories is carried out through the Billing.edu.uz electronic system based on the principles of openness, transparency, and fairness.
• As of today, 5,014 applications have been submitted for student dormitory accommodation.
• A new 9-storey student dormitory with a capacity of 1,100 places is currently under construction at the university. The project is being implemented under a public-private partnership.
