The Uzbek Language and Literature Center — a Symbol of Brotherhood and Friendship

Along with being a leading scientific and educational institution in the field of foreign language education, Uzbekistan State World Languages University consistently implements initiatives aimed at promoting the Uzbek language and national culture at the international level.

 

 

As a logical continuation of cooperation carried out within these priority areas, on February 3, 2026, a ceremonial opening of the Uzbek Language and Literature Center, initiated by Uzbekistan State World Languages University, was held at Azerbaijan University of Languages.

The event was attended by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan, Bahrom Ashrafkhanov; the Rector of Uzbekistan State World Languages University, Ilhomjon Tuxtasinov; the Head of the Azerbaijan–Uzbekistan Inter-Parliamentary Relations Working Group and Member of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Eldar Ibragimov; as well as heads of higher education institutions, representatives of the academic community, and other official guests.

In his welcoming address, the Rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages, Academician Kamal Abdulla, emphasized that the opening of the center is an important and symbolic event in the life of the university. He noted the special role of language and culture centers in strengthening scientific, educational, and cultural ties between states and peoples. It was also highlighted that the opening of the Azerbaijani Language and Culture Center at Uzbekistan State World Languages University last year serves as a vivid and effective example of bilateral cooperation.

Academician Kamal Abdulla underscored the deep respect and sincere interest of the Azerbaijani people toward Uzbekistan’s rich history and profound cultural heritage, expressing confidence that the newly opened Uzbek Language and Literature Center would further enhance the interest of students and faculty members in Uzbekistan.

In his speech, the Rector of Uzbekistan State World Languages University, Ilhomjon Tuxtasinov, emphasized that cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan is based on centuries-old ties of brotherhood and strong friendship connecting the two nations. He noted that the center would elevate scientific, cultural, educational, and political cooperation to a new level, while also expanding opportunities for students and faculty to study the Uzbek language and become more closely acquainted with Uzbekistan’s culture.

 

 

The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan, Bahrom Ashrafkhanov, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and high level of attention, noting that the Uzbek Language and Literature Center would play an important role not only in the educational process but also in the development of research activities.

Additionally, Eldar Ibragimov, a Member of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, emphasized that the center would contribute to further strengthening scientific, cultural, educational, and political cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. It was noted that cooperation between the two universities is steadily progressing, and that a group of students from Azerbaijan University of Languages plans to pursue doctoral studies at Uzbekistan State World Languages University in the current year.

Overall, the opening of the Uzbek Language and Literature Center became one of the important and symbolic steps toward further strengthening friendship, mutual respect, and strategic cooperation between the two brotherly nations.
