UNESCO Youth Hackathon 2026
A global online hackathon organized by UNESCO for young people worldwide who want to develop innovative solutions in the field of Media and Information Literacy (MIL).
Location: Online + Grand Finale in Greece (26–28 November 2026)
Who can apply?
- Young people aged 18–30;
- Teams of 2–6 members;
- Participants from any country;
- No prior experience is required. What matters most is your idea, motivation, and alignment with UNESCO’s values.
Project themes include:
- Using Artificial Intelligence to enhance media literacy;
- Educational tools for Media and Information Literacy (MIL);
- Community-based initiatives;
- Projects that strengthen youth organizations;
- Any other innovative ideas related to Media and Information Literacy.
Participation
All registered teams will have free access to an online mentoring programme on 1–2 July 2026, where international experts will help participants refine their ideas and prepare their projects.
The winning teams will receive a fully funded trip to Greece to attend the Voices European Festival of Journalism and Media Freedom.
