Vice-Rector of UzSWLU on an International Cooperation Visit in Azerbaijan

Abdurahim Nosirov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of Uzbekistan State World Languages University (UzSWLU), is on a working visit to Baku at the invitation of the Rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL), within the framework of a cooperation memorandum between the two institutions.

On May 5, AUL hosted an international scientific conference titled “Heydar Aliyev: The Ideology of Multiculturalism and Tolerance,” dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev. Prior to the event, participants paid tribute to his memory by laying flowers at his grave in the Alley of Honor.

The conference was opened by the Rector of AUL, Academician Kamal Abdulla, who warmly welcomed the guests and emphasized the importance of the forum for strengthening scientific cooperation. The event brought together representatives of academia and education, scholars, intellectuals, and public figures from various countries.

In his speech, Abdurahim Nosirov highlighted the steady development of Uzbekistan–Azerbaijan relations. He also noted that issues of multiculturalism and tolerance in Uzbekistan have been elevated to the level of state policy, and that cooperation between AUL and UzSWLU continues to expand. In particular, the following points were emphasized:
— the operation of the Azerbaijani Language Center in Tashkent and the Uzbek Language Center at AUL;
— the introduction of Azerbaijani as a third foreign language at UzSWLU;
— the involvement of AUL faculty members in teaching activities at UzSWLU;
— the provision of academic guidance by UzSWLU scholars to AUL researchers.

Within the framework of the conference, panel sessions were also held on the topics “Heydar Aliyev and the Turkic World: History and Modernity” and “Intercultural Communication in Mass Media and the Digital Space.”

International experts such as Burak Eke, Lyudmila Bejenaru, Liza Brandt, Sevinj Fataliyeva, and Arzu Nagiyev emphasized in their presentations that multilingualism, cultural diversity, and tolerance are key factors in the internationalization of academic and cultural environments.
