2026-09-07 10-08 Vice-Rector of Xi’an International Studies University Receives UzSWLU Professor
Deng Ying, Vice-Rector and Professor of Xi’an International Studies University (西安外国语大学) in the People’s Republic of China, received Shahlo Shukrullaevna Yuldasheva, Professor at the Uzbekistan State World Languages University and Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, who has been teaching in the new four-year independent Bachelor’s degree programme “乌兹别克语” — “Uzbek Language” since the 2026/2027 academic year.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the prospects of the new Bachelor’s programme, the factors that led to its establishment, and issues related to the further development of the educational process.
According to Professor Deng Ying, in 2026, the “Roadmap for the Development of Bachelor’s Degree Programmes” covering 34 key industrial chains was published in Shanxi Province. The document is contributing to accelerating the integration of humanities and technical disciplines at the university.
It was noted that the four-year Bachelor’s degree programme in “Uzbek Language” was established at XISU in response to the growing demand for specialists proficient in Uzbek in the industrial and economic sectors.
It was also emphasised that the university is implementing a “language + regional studies + industry + digital technologies” model for specialist training. This approach is aimed at preparing modern, multidisciplinary professionals for countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. As an important educational gateway to Central Asia, XISU, located in northwestern China, was noted to have significant potential in this area.
During the discussion, Professor Shahlo Shukrullaevna Yuldasheva noted that Uzbek language classes at XISU are organised based on a fully immersive approach. In other words, an Uzbek-language environment is created during lectures, practical classes and communication with students without using an intermediary language.
The professor also stated that, based on this methodology, she had piloted the textbook “Uzbek Language Practice I” at XISU and prepared it for publication.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants emphasised the importance of continuing cooperation between UzSWLU and XISU to further develop bilateral collaboration, improve Uzbek language teaching methodology, and expand the educational opportunities offered by the new Bachelor’s degree programme.
