Visit to Peking University and Beijing Foreign Studies University of the People’s Republic of China
From December 23 to 26, 2025, Dilrabo Baxronova, Head of the Department of Applied Spanish Language Studies at the Uzbekistan State World Languages University, Doctor of Philology (DSc), Professor, together with the department’s foreign specialist, Professor Simone Tiemi Hashiguti (PhD) from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP, Brazil), paid a visit to Peking University, ranked 14th in the QS World Ranking, and Beijing Foreign Studies University at the invitation of these institutions.
Within the framework of the meetings, experience was exchanged in the fields of foreign language teaching methodology, cross-cultural education, comparative linguistics, and translation studies. Issues related to short-term academic mobility through student and faculty exchange, joint seminars, international grant programs, collaborative research projects, and the expansion of cooperation were also discussed. The participants additionally exchanged views on the work carried out in Spanish and Portuguese language programs at the host universities.
At Peking University, the delegation became acquainted with the activities of the Brazilian Language and Culture Center and studied its practical experience. During the meetings, teaching Spanish and Portuguese in Eastern countries, developing linguocultural competence, as well as the relevance of cognitive and comparative approaches were highlighted as important academic directions.
This visit contributed to strengthening scientific and pedagogical cooperation between UzSWLU, Peking University, and Beijing Foreign Studies University in specific areas, introducing modern methodological solutions in teaching Spanish and Portuguese, and expanding cross-cultural dialogue within the transnational educational space. At the same time, the meetings were enriched with initiatives making a practical contribution to the UN goals of “Quality Education” and “Partnerships for Sustainable Development.”
