In 2016, the Japanese Language Department received 708 books and educational manuals from the Abe Akie Foundation, the International Japan Foundation, and the Toshiba Foundation.
In 2021, the Department of Japanese Language Theory and Practice secured a "Grassroots" grant from the Japan Foundation, totaling 93,000 USD, to support Japanese language education.
Since 2015, our Japanese language teachers have been developing their teaching skills in long-term (six months) and short-term (two months) programs at the Japan Foundation’s Japanese Language Institute in Urava, Japan.
Every year, our students visit partner universities in Japan for one-year exchange programs. They also successfully participate in the MEXT program. Since 2014, nearly 100 of our students have studied in Japan under these programs. The credits and grades earned by students in Japan are recognized by our university, ensuring that our students do not lose time while studying abroad.
Regular online webinars and seminars are being held in collaboration with Japan's Tsukuba, Wakayama, Bunkyo Gakuin, and Toyo universities. Additionally, professors from Tsukuba University give lectures for our students, while students from Wakayama and Toyo universities participate in online seminars focused on Japanese and Uzbek cultures.
Thanks to Tsukuba University and Professor Masaki Ono, Uzbekistan State University of World Languages became a member of the JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science) project. The JSPS promotes international scientific exchange between Japan and partner countries through academic organizations, scientific councils, and other agreements. These programs usually involve joint research projects, seminars, and exchanges of researchers.
