At the beginning of the meeting, Rector Ilkhomjon Tukhtasinov warmly welcomed the guests and highlighted the British Council’s long-standing and effective contribution to the development of English language education in Uzbekistan, as well as its role in training qualified specialists and enhancing the professional skills of educators.
It was noted that since 1995, the British Council has been implementing a number of major projects in cooperation with Uzbekistan’s higher and general education system. In particular, within the framework of the PRESETT project, based on the experience of INSETT, extensive work has been carried out to develop modern English language curricula, improve assessment systems, and enhance the professional competencies of teachers. It was emphasized that lecturers from Uzbekistan State World Languages University have been actively involved as experts in these processes.
The outcomes of the National Forum titled “Improving English Language Education Reform in Uzbekistan,” held on 23 June this year, were also discussed. It was noted that the forum presented the main directions of the updated curricula developed under the PRESETT project, and that the current meeting was dedicated to a detailed review of proposals and feedback from higher education institutions.

During the discussions, the parties exchanged views on further improving the content of English language education, introducing modern pedagogical approaches, and advancing cooperation with the British Council to a new level.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation aimed at improving the quality of English language teaching, widely implementing international best practices, and consistently continuing joint projects.
