Cooperation between Higher Education Institutions of Uzbekistan and Italy Reaches a New Level

The “Second Forum of Rectors of Uzbekistan and Italy” is being held in Rome, Italy. Representatives of higher education institutions from both countries are participating in the forum and discussing issues of cooperation in education, science, and academic exchange.

Within the framework of the forum, M. Chutpulatov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the Uzbekistan State World Languages University (UzSWLU), and B. Ergashova, Head of the Department of Theory and Practice of Italian Translation, held a series of meetings with representatives of partner universities.

In particular:

  1. During the meeting with Carla Bagna, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of the University for Foreigners of Siena, an agreement was signed to extend the Erasmus+ KA171 project between the universities until 2028. Under this project, three faculty members and three students of UzSWLU will undertake training at the University for Foreigners of Siena.

  2. In cooperation between the faculty members of the Department of Theory and Practice of Italian Translation of UzSWLU and representatives of Ca’ Foscari University, the famous work “Il Milione” by the traveler Marco Polo was translated. Within the framework of the forum, this translated work was ceremonially presented to the ministers of the two countries.

  3. In negotiations with Valerio De Cesaris, Rector of the University for Foreigners of Perugia, it was agreed to allocate grants for Italian language teachers and ten students of UzSWLU to study at a one-month summer school to be held in July of this year in Perugia.

  4. At the meeting with Manuela De Giorgi, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of the University of Salento, issues related to organizing special courses in translation didactics at the University of Salento and providing grants for UzSWLU faculty members were discussed.

In addition, preliminary agreements were reached on establishing cooperation with representatives of the University of Perugia, the University of Salerno, and the University of Parma.
