Defense of the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Dissertation in Philology Took Place

On January 7, 2026, a meeting of the Academic Council dedicated to the defense of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) dissertation in Philology was held. The meeting was organized in an offline format at the Uzbekistan State World Languages University and simultaneously via the ZOOM online platform.

During the meeting of the Academic Council, the dissertation of Omonov Turgun Abdusoqiyevich, prepared in the specialty 10.00.06 – Comparative Literature, Contrastive Linguistics, and Translation Studies, entitled “Factors in the Development of Polysemy of Insurance Terms in English and Uzbek (Based on Lexicographic Sources and Economic Texts),” submitted for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Philology, was defended.

The research systematically examines the polysemy of insurance terminology, as well as the processes of its formation and development through a comparative analysis of English and Uzbek, based on authentic economic texts and lexicographic sources.

The meeting was attended by the Rector of the Uzbekistan State World Languages University, Ilkhomjon Tukhtasinov, along with official opponents, who emphasized the practical significance of research conducted in the fields of economic terminology and translation studies, as well as the possibilities of integrating the findings into the educational process.

During the academic discussions, it was highlighted that the research results contribute to the standardization of insurance terminology, enrichment of lexicographic practice, and further improvement of scientific and methodological resources in the field.
